Performance: June 2019 Date TBD

TMI Project seeks writers, activists, and local community members of color of all ages for Truth to Power, a weekend intensive writing workshop. TMI Project’s Signature Storytelling Workshops take writers through TMI Project’s storytelling methodology which includes writing exercises, refinement by storytellers, editing by workshop leaders, and guidance in rehearsal, to weave the narratives into one riveting live performance. The workshop will be taught by TMI Project teaching artists Dara Lurie and Micah Blumenthal. It will culminate in a live performance in Kingston, NY and will be live streamed and broadcast by Radio Kingston.

In addition to these stories being presented to the general public at the live performance, if interested, storytellers will be prepared to share their stories at City Hall forums, community speak outs and rallies, using their experience to create true and lasting change.

Black Stories Matter: Truth to Power is presented in partnership with local organizations Rise Up Kingston, A.J. Williams Myers African Roots Library, the Kingston High School and others.

About Black Stories Matter

In alignment with TMI Project’s mission to empower people and bring about change through true storytelling, Black Stories Matter seeks to raise awareness around issues of inequality and injustice through true storytelling and inspire people to take action while also using our digital platform to expose inequality and injustice rapidly and frequently and amplify the voices of people of color who have inspiring stories to share, about surviving–and thriving–in the Hudson Valley and throughout the United States.
